Pour son retour sur scène, l’auteur-compositeur-interprète PATRICE a choisi la scène toulousaine du BIKINI pour débuter sa tournée 2023 « The Super Tour ». Après une pause de plusieurs années dans les collines jamaïcaines, le talentueux artiste nous a offert un concert rempli de bonnes vibes ce mardi 7 mars.
PATRICE a grandi dans la banlieue de Cologne en Allemagne en écoutant des sons de Bob Marley, Burning Spears, Fela Kuti ou encore Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, ainsi que du rap. Né d’un père sierra-léonais et d’une mère allemande, il a commencé à écrire ses propres chansons très tôt, à 12 ans, après le décès soudain de son père. Lors de son concert au Bikini, PATRICE nous a fait l’honneur de jouer son tout 1er morceau, ainsi que ses hits contenus dans son best of nommé « Super Album » sorti le 6 octobre dernier, et des inédits issus de son prochain album.
Arrivés en bon nombre, le public était cool et souriant, à l’image de l’artiste qu’il était venu voir en concert.
Après une 1ère partie entrainante assurée par le réunionnais Rawb et son compère beatmaker Trka, PATRICE a pris place sur scène accompagné d’un bassiste, un batteur et un claviériste.
Les bonnes vibes et l’énergie du trio ont envahi la foule présente dans la salle et le balcon du Bikini.
Armé de sa guitare sèche, de sa guitare électrique ou simplement de son micro, le créateur du style ‘Sweggae’ (Reggae Swing) nous a livré une prestation de grande qualité avec plus de 20 morceaux joués.
A la fois en interaction avec le public et dans sa ‘bulle’ artistique, PATRICE a fait le bonheur des amateurs de son univers musical. Il a enchaîné des sons calmes avec des morceaux plus rythmés, n’a pas hésité à laisser ses musiciens s’exprimer sur scène, nous permettant de vivre des sortes ‘d’expériences’ comme ils doivent en avoir dans l’intimité d’un studio. PATRICE s’est souvent arrêté au cours de sa performance pour remercier le public d’avoir fait le déplacement, d’être toujours là pour lui malgré son long temps d’absence (7 ans), il en semblait même étonné ! PATRICE a aussi véhiculé son message positif face à la vie et sa philosophie du ‘love yourself first’ durant les 2 bonnes heures de show.
Pour donner un aperçu du concert, le talentueux artiste est arrivé sur scène à 21h30 habillé de son bonnet orange, sa chemisette assortie, un pantalon chino noir et une belle paire de sneakers Salomon. Il est entré avec le morceau « Change Today », a enchainé avec « Hippies With Guns », pour ensuite faire une reprise façon reggae de « Rivers of Babylon » de Boney M. Après « Boxes », Everyday Good », « Up In My Room », « It Hurt to Be » et « Alone », on a aussi eu la chance d’assister à la prestation d’un ami jamaïcain de PATRICE : YAAD CORE, un artiste reggae-dancehall. L’auteur-compositeur-interprète originaire de Cologne a ensuite joué plusieurs de ses morceaux phares, comme « Music », « Cry Cry Cry », « Sunshine » et le très populaire « Soulstorm » avec lequel il a terminé sa prestation. Le public n’a pas cessé de chanter le refrain de ce morceau, décidé à faire revenir le trio sur scène.
Pour le 1er rappel, PATRICE a joué sa propre version du hit « Good Vibrations » des Beach Boys. L’artiste a utilisé le loop de batterie du célèbre groupe de rap du Queens, Mobb Depp, pour remixer ce morceau culte. PATRICE a ensuite fait découvrir au public du Bikini 2 sons en totale exclusivité de son prochain album, « 50 » et « What We’re made of » avant de quitter la scène. Le public, toujours aussi motivé à faire continuer le concert, à fredonner la mélodie de ce dernier son pour faire sortir PATRICE des backstages. Heureux et même ému de l’accueil que lui avait réservé le public toulousain, l’artiste de Sweggae est revenu sur scène en chantant « Africanize Dem ».
Malgré le départ des artistes de la scène, la foule est restée en place pendant de longues minutes afin de savourer les dernières good vibes qui planaient encore dans la salle.
C’est difficile de quitter un concert de PATRICE tellement la prestation est cool et les vibes sont bonnes ! Si vous êtes à Nîmes, Strasbourg, Metz, Reims, Le Mans, Saint-Malo et bien sûr Paris, allez vite prendre votre place ICI ! L’annonce de la sortie imminente d’un nouvel album est sûrement synonyme d’une prochaine tournée… On a hâte !

Born to a Sierra Leonean father and a German mother, he started writing his own songs at the early age of 12 after the sudden death of his father. During his concert at Bikini, PATRICE honored us by playing his very first song, as well as his hits contained in his best of named « Super Album » released on October 6, and unreleased songs from his upcoming album.
Arrived in good number, the public was cool and smiling, like the artist he came to see in concert.
After a lively first part provided by the Reunionese Rawb and his fellow beatmaker Trka, PATRICE took place on stage accompanied by a bassist, a drummer and a keyboardist.
The good vibes and the energy of the trio invaded the crowd present in the room and the balcony of the Bikini.
Armed with his acoustic guitar, his electric guitar or simply his microphone, the creator of the ‘Sweggae’ (Reggae Swing) style delivered a high quality performance with more than 20 songs played.
At the same time in interaction with the public and in his artistic ‘bubble’, PATRICE made the happiness of the amateurs of his musical universe. He linked calm sounds with more rhythmic pieces, didn’t hesitate to let his musicians express themselves on stage, allowing us to live some ‘experiences’ as they must have in the intimacy of a studio. PATRICE often stopped during his performance to thank the audience for coming, for being there for him despite his long absence (7 years), he even seemed surprised ! PATRICE also conveyed his positive message about life and his ‘love yourself first’ philosophy during the 2 hours of his show.
To give a glimpse of the concert, the talented artist arrived on stage at 9:30 pm dressed in his orange beanie, matching shirt, black chino pants and a nice pair of Salomon sneakers. He entered with the song « Change Today », followed by « Hippies With Guns », and then did a reggae cover of « Rivers of Babylon » by Boney M. After « Boxes », « Everyday Good », « Up In My Room », « It Hurt to Be » and « Alone », we also had the chance to attend the performance of a Jamaican friend of PATRICE : YAAD CORE, a reggae-dancehall artist. The Cologne-based singer-songwriter went on to perform several of his signature tracks, including « Music », « Cry Cry Cry », « Sunshine » and the very popular « Soulstorm » with which he ended his performance. The audience kept singing the chorus of this song, determined to get the trio back on stage.
For the 1st encore, PATRICE played his own version of the Beach Boys’ hit « Good Vibrations ». The artist used the drum loop of the famous Queens rap group, Mobb Depp, to remix this cult song. PATRICE then gave the audience of Bikini 2 exclusive sounds from his next album, « 50 » and « What We’re made of » before leaving the stage. The public, always so motivated to continue the concert, hummed the melody of this last sound to make PATRICE leave the backstage. Happy and even moved by the welcome that the audience of Toulouse had given him, the artist of Sweggae came back on stage by singing « Africanize Dem ».
Despite the departure of the artists from the stage, the crowd remained in place for long minutes to enjoy the last good vibes that still hovered in the room.
It’s hard to leave a concert of PATRICE because the performance is so cool and the vibes are good !
