DADOO, l’une des légendes du rap toulousain, revient sur le devant de la scène avec l’annonce d’un nouvel album. L’auteur-compositeur-interprète a dévoilé les 6 premiers morceaux de son prochain opus lors d’une garden party organisée chez son ami, producteur et manager Romain.
Au début des années 90, DADOO, son cousin DIESEL et ses amis H20, Robert et Lindsay fondent le groupe KDD à Toulouse. Grâce à leur style unique résultant de leur sensibilité musicale novatrice et de leurs textes accrocheurs, les KDD gagnent en popularité et arrivent à inscrire la ville rose sur la carte du rap français, à une époque où régnait l’axe Paris-Marseille.
Après 3 albums, le groupe se sépare et DADOO s’engage dans une enrichissante carrière solo.
Ce passionné de musique et d’écriture développe tout naturellement sa culture musicale et ses compétences en se tournant vers d’autres sonorités, d’autres univers. Durant le début des années 2000, en plus de composer et de collaborer avec des artistes de renom comme Akh d’IAM, Kool Shen et JoeyStarr d’NTM, Rohff ou encore Vitaa pour ne citer qu’eux, DADOO entre dans le monde du cinéma, toujours à travers la musique. L’artiste toulousain co-réalise la bande originale du film à succès « TAXI 3 », compose la musique du générique de « RRRrrrr!!! » d’Alain Chabat et imagine le scénario de « Gomez et Tavarès ». Ne se mettant aucune limite artistique, il est à l’origine de certains spots publicitaires et génériques télé. Le rappeur hors du commun a également fondé un groupe d’influence post-rock nommé D and the Zepp.
Pendant les années qui ont suivies, DADOO a continué son parcours d’exploration artistique et musicale, toujours avec passion et honnêteté, sans suivre les tendances ou la direction que certains auraient voulu qu’il prenne.
Fidèle à sa façon d’être, gardant sa sensibilité artistique spéciale et son petit ‘grain de folie’, DADOO vient de dévoiler les 6 premiers morceaux de son album à venir. Un EP dont la sortie est prévue pour le mois d’octobre 2023. L’artiste a confié que l’album sera disponible sous 2 formats faisant référence à ‘l’ancien’ et ‘le nouveau’ : en double vinyle et en streaming.
La présentation de ce nouveau projet a eu lieu lors d’une Garden Party au cœur de Toulouse, dans une ambiance chill, cool et conviviale. Entouré de ses proches, de certains de ses musiciens dont Pascal son bassiste et d’artistes comme le jeune rappeur Loup Noir, le chanteur-compositeur Eyal, ou le peintre-graffeur Cyro (qui a conçu le design de la pochette de l’album aux Posca), DADOO a expliqué en quelques mots la création de cet opus avant de lancer l’écoute.
Cet album est le résultat d’environ 1 an et demi de travail, avec des grands noms comme Imothep d’IAM, DJ Djel de la Fonky Family, le légendaire ingé son Jeff Dominguez ou encore le spécialiste de la musique électronique Alex Gopher.
Les 6 premiers morceaux semblent fonctionner par 2 et nous amènent dans 3 univers différents :
– Le premier duo pourrait être qualifié de ‘Jazzy-Chill’ avec une ambiance assurée par la présence d’instruments et de voix mélodieuses (comme celle de la fille de DADOO qui chante sur le 2ème morceau).
– Le deuxième semble rejoindre le style ‘Retro Pop Authentic’, avec de la guitare sèche et des textes de rap chantés. Le titre « Place Saint-Pierre » rend hommage à Toulouse et remet en lumière l’iconique expression ’31 ma Couille’ tirée des années KDD (clin d’œil super apprécié !). L’autre son de cette section est une reprise du hit « Sales Gosses » à la façon d’un ‘Unplugged’.
– Le dernier univers marie ‘l’ancien et le nouveau’, avec un morceau samplant un rif de guitare de l’un des plus célèbres rockeurs hippie de l’histoire ainsi qu’un rythme régulier de caisse claire, alors que l’autre titre rappelle les sonorités actuelles de London avec des beats electro entraînants et un petit accent anglais de DADOO inattendu mais qui fonctionne très bien.
DADOO et sa team vont cliper très prochainement le titre « Place Saint-Pierre », avec une sortie prévue pour juillet ou août.
Le tout nouvel album de DADOO sortira au mois d’octobre 2023. Un concert est programmé au Rex de Toulouse le 8 novembre 2023, avec en 1ère partie le prometteur rappeur toulousain Loup Noir. Les amis de toujours de DADOO, Imothep et Djel, seront également présents sur scène, ainsi que probablement d’autres musiciens.

The singer-songwriter unveiled the first 6 tracks of his forthcoming opus at a garden party held at the home of his friend, producer and manager Romain.In the early 90s, DADOO, his cousin DIESEL and friends H20, Robert and Lindsay founded the group KDD in Toulouse. Thanks to their unique style, innovative musical sensibility and catchy lyrics, KDD gained in popularity and managed to put the pink city on the map of French rap, at a time when the Paris-Marseille axis reigned supreme.
After 3 albums, the group split up and DADOO embarked on a rewarding solo career.
This music and writing enthusiast naturally developed his musical culture and skills by turning to other sounds and other worlds. In the early 2000s, in addition to composing and collaborating with renowned artists such as Akh from IAM, Kool Shen and JoeyStarr from NTM, Rohff and Vitaa, to name but a few, DADOO entered the world of cinema, again through music. The Toulousan artist co-produced the soundtrack for the hit film « TAXI 3 », composed the theme music for Alain Chabat’s « RRRrrrr!!! » and wrote the screenplay for « Gomez et Tavarès ». Faithful to his way of being, retaining his artistic sensibility and his little ‘grain de folie’, DADOO has just unveiled the first 6 tracks from his forthcoming album. A EP due for release in October 2023. The artist confided that the album will be available in 2 formats referring to ‘the old’ and ‘the new’: double vinyl and streaming.
The presentation of this new project took place at a Garden Party in the heart of Toulouse, in a chill, cool and convivial atmosphere. Surrounded by friends and family, some of his musicians including bassist Pascal, and artists such as young rapper Loup Noir, singer-songwriter Eyal, and painter-graffiti artist Cyro (who designed the album cover with Posca), DADOO explained in a few words how he came to create this opus, before launching the listening session.
The album is the result of around 1 year and half of work, with big names such as Imothep from IAM, DJ Djel from the Fonky Family, legendary sound engineer Jeff Dominguez and electronic music specialist Alex Gopher.
The first 6 tracks seem to work in pairs, taking us into 3 different worlds :
– The first duo could be described as ‘Jazzy-Chill’, with an atmosphere assured by the presence of instruments and melodious vocals (like that of DADOO’s daughter, who sings on the 2nd track).
– The second seems to join the world of ‘Retro Pop Authentic’, with acoustic guitar and sung rap lyrics. The song « Place Saint-Pierre » pays homage to Toulouse, and brings back the iconic phrase ’31 ma Couille’ from the KDD years (a much-appreciated wink !). The other sound in this section is an Unplugged-style cover of the hit « Sales Gosses ».
– The final universe marries ‘old and new’, with one track sampling a guitar riff from one of history’s most famous hippie rockers and a steady snare drum beat, while the other track recalls the sounds of today’s London with catchy electro beats and a little English accent from DADOO that’s unexpected but works very well.
DADOO and his team will be clipping the track « Place Saint-Pierre » very soon, for release in July or August.
DADOO’s brand new album will be released in October 2023. A concert is scheduled at the Rex in Toulouse on November 8, 2023, with promising Toulouse rapper Loup Noir as opening act. DADOO’s lifelong friends Imothep and Djel will also be on stage, as will probably other musicians.
